Intelligent RFID Tracking & Asset Management
Track. Locate. Automate. Know.
SynTec works with TEC-RFID to deliver complete RFID solutions that give organisations greater visibility and control over their assets, inventory and operational processes.
Unlike traditional barcode systems, RFID doesn't require every item to be individually located and scanned. RFID technology can identify hundreds of tagged items per second, helping organisations dramatically reduce the time required for stocktakes and asset audits.
From a straightforward handheld RFID asset-tracking solution through to fixed readers automatically monitoring the movement of equipment between locations, SynTec and TEC-RFID can bring together the hardware, tags, software, network and infrastructure required to create a complete solution.
What is RFID?
See More. Scan Faster.
RFID — Radio Frequency Identification — uses radio waves to identify tagged items.
Unlike conventional barcodes, RFID does not necessarily require direct line of sight between the reader and each individual tag. Multiple tags can be identified simultaneously, making the technology particularly powerful when organisations need to manage large quantities of equipment, stock or other assets.
This can transform processes such as:
Asset Tracking
Stocktaking
Inventory Management
Tool Tracking
Equipment Management
Warehouse Operations
Returnable Asset Tracking
Manufacturing & Production
IT Asset Management

Know What You Have — and Where It Is
Keeping track of hundreds or thousands of physical assets using spreadsheets and manual processes can be incredibly time-consuming.
With RFID, each asset is given a unique RFID tag.
Employees can then use handheld readers to rapidly identify tagged equipment, while fixed RFID readers can automatically detect assets moving through defined locations.
TEC-RFID's asset-management platform brings that information together, providing organisations with a central view of their assets and their associated information.
The result is a much quicker way to answer some very simple but important questions:
What equipment do we have?
Where is it?
When was it last seen?
Who or which location is it assigned to?
-
This is one of the biggest advantages of RFID.
Traditional asset audits can involve employees walking around a building manually finding and scanning every barcode.
RFID allows multiple tags to be captured simultaneously.
TEC-RFID states that its solutions can scan hundreds of tags per second, significantly reducing the time required to complete stocktakes.
For organisations managing large quantities of IT equipment, tools, stock or operational assets, that can turn a labour-intensive manual process into something considerably faster.
-
Take RFID Wherever You Need It
Handheld RFID readers provide employees with the flexibility to walk through an environment and rapidly identify tagged assets.
They can be used for:
Stocktakes
Asset Audits
Inventory Counts
Finding Missing Equipment
Goods In / Out
Asset Transfers
Warehouse Operations
Maintenance Inspections
TEC-RFID supports integrated handheld solutions including Zebra enterprise devices, giving SynTec the opportunity to combine RFID with our wider Zebra enterprise mobility offering.
-
RFID Becomes a Digital Homing Device
RFID isn't only about scanning lots of items quickly.
TEC-RFID's software includes a Find Assets capability which can work with compatible handheld readers to help users locate a specific tagged item.
As the reader gets closer to the required asset, the user can be guided towards it.
This can be extremely useful in environments where valuable equipment regularly moves between rooms, departments or operational areas.
Instead of searching manually, RFID can help lead the user to the equipment they're looking for.
-
Automate the Tracking Process
RFID can go beyond handheld stocktakes.
Fixed RFID readers can be positioned at strategic locations to automatically identify tagged assets as they move through an environment.
That could include:
Warehouse Entrances
Goods-In Areas
Dispatch
Doorways
Production Areas
Equipment Stores
Building Entrances
Defined Asset Zones
TEC-RFID's asset platform supports fixed readers automatically updating asset locations, allowing tracking to become part of the environment rather than relying entirely on employees manually scanning equipment.
-
The Right Tag Matters
One of the most important parts of an RFID project is selecting the correct tag.
The material an asset is made from, its size, where the tag can be positioned and the environment in which it operates can all affect RFID performance.
Metal, liquids and other environmental factors can create particular challenges.
TEC-RFID's approach includes testing tags, antennas and readers against the customer's actual products and environment before finalising the solution.
This is important because a successful RFID project isn't simply about buying RFID hardware.
It's about designing a system that works reliably in the real environment where it will be used.
-
Turn RFID Data Into Useful Information
The RFID hardware captures the information.
The software makes that information useful.
TEC-RFID provides its own asset-management platform with both a web portal and Android application, allowing organisations to centrally manage their RFID asset information.
Capabilities include:
RFID Stocktakes
Bulk Asset Updates
Find Assets
Fixed Reader Integration
RFID Printing
Custom Asset Fields
User Permissions
Reporting
Excel Import & Export
REST API Integration
This allows RFID to become part of a wider business process rather than simply functioning as a standalone scanning system.

Enterprise Mobility Meets RFID
TEC-RFID and SynTec's wider Zebra Technologies capability make a particularly strong combination.
Zebra provides enterprise mobile computers, integrated RFID handhelds, fixed RFID readers and RFID printing technology.
TEC-RFID brings the specialist RFID knowledge, tags and asset-management software.
SynTec can then provide the network, WiFi and physical infrastructure connecting the complete solution.
Together, this creates an end-to-end RFID environment rather than a collection of individual products.
-
RFID labels can combine traditional printed information and barcodes with an RFID inlay encoded by a compatible printer.
Through our wider relationships with manufacturers including Zebra, TSC and Printronix Auto ID, SynTec can provide RFID printing alongside the tracking solution.
Combined with BarTender, we can also develop professional label-design and automation workflows.
That gives us the ability to look at the complete lifecycle:
